What Exactly Is A Commissioned Portrait?
A commissioned pet portrait is a one-of-a-kind painting of your animal(s) that is done by an artist for a client.
How Is the Subject Studied?
Nancy prefers that you are local to the Dallas Ft. Worth area, or can travel to the area. The study session includes the artist interacting with your pets or animals to experience their personality, a color palette study in pastel, and a few reference photos from different angles.
What Medium Is Used?
Nancy paints in pastel – a buttery-like pure pigment that dates back to the 16th Century. All paintings are professionally framed and ready to hang upon delivery.
How Long Does It Take?
Most commissions are completed within 4 to 6 months from the time you contact us, but must be ordered in advance, especially if it is to be a gift.
Who Owns the Art and Its Value?
Upon final payment, the art becomes yours, and the value of the piece will be higher than reproductions because it is an original. The sentiment will be a priceless treasure for years.
How Much Does A Commissioned Portrait Cost?
Pet paintings range in fees, depending on this kind of criteria:
- Complexity of Background
- Subject Matter
- Animal Fur Type
- Number of Models (whether animals or people or both)
- Size of Painting
You can contact the artist and describe the pet or animal(s) you would like captured in pastel and you’ll receive a customized commission quote.
