What Exactly Is A Commissioned Painted Portrait?
A commissioned portrait is a one-of-a-kind painting of a subject (a person or people) that is done by an artist for a client.

How Is the Subject Studied?
The study session includes the artist interacting with the subject(s) to experience their personality, a color palette study in pastel, and a few reference photos from different angles.

What Medium Is Used?
Nancy paints in pastel – a buttery-like pure pigment that dates back to the 16th Century. All paintings are professionally framed and ready to hang upon delivery.

How Long Does It Take?
Most commissions are completed within 4 to 6 months from the time you contact us, but must be ordered in advance, especially if it is to be a gift.

Who Owns the Art and Its Value?
Upon final payment, the art becomes yours, and the value of the piece will be higher than reproductions because it is an original. The sentiment will be a priceless treasure for years.

How Much Does A Commissioned Portrait Cost?
Portraits range in costs, depending on this kind of criteria:

  • Complexity of Background
  • Number of People to be Painted
  • How Much of the Subject(s) Need to be Painted (i.e. head, torso, full body)
  • Clothing style (i.e. silk vs. lace)
  • Size of Painting

You can contact the artist and describe the subject(s) you would like captured in pastel and you’ll receive a customized commission quote.
